PTA is the oldest and largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the nation. For the past 111 years, PTA has been lobbying congress on the behalf of children, proposing legislation that established child labor laws, vaccination programs, and many others. PTA has over 5 million members in all 50 states and overseas. Maclary PTA works very hard to enhance your children's education with field trips, assemblies, PBS activities, and extra curricular activities.
Studies have proven that students whose parents are involved in their education have higher grade point averages, fewer school absences and a higher graduation rate. Involved parents also have children with fewer suspensions or incidences of violent behavior. In May, 2008, a University of New Hampshire study of the link between parent involvement in education and higher academic achievement found schools would need to increase per-pupil spending by more than $1,000 to achieve the same results gained with parental involvement.
There is no better way to show your children you care about their education than supporting them at school. This year, Maclary PTA would like to count all our parents and teachers among our members.
